Why set up Sadaqah Jariyah?
Once a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said,
“My mother died unexpectedly, and she had not made a will. I think that if she could have spoken, she would have given in charity. Will she receive a reward if I give charity on her behalf?”
Heﷺ said,
“Yes, give charity on behalf of your mother.”
[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
And, according to scholars, the best charity for the deceased is Sadaqah Jariyah.

Sadaqah Jariyah – A long-term investment
Sadaqah Jariyah is a long-term kindness that accrues ongoing rewards from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى
When someone decides to build a well, build a masjid, sponsor an orphan or build a house for a widow as an act of Sadaqah Jariyah, they are rewarded for the act. But they are also rewarded every time someone or something benefits from this project.
Subhan’Allah, this could be a never-ending cycle of collecting good deeds.
Let’s seek Allah’s pleasure through an act of Sadaqah Jariyah
The Prophet ﷺ told us that every man will be shaded by his charity on the Day of Resurrection, the day on which the sun will be brought close to people’s heads until Allaah passes judgement between them.
[Ahmad]
How good would you feel if that charity is a Sadaqah Jariyah you set up during your lifetime?
