Income Generation Programme for the Poor

Dabbagh Welfare Trust’s Income Generation Programme for the Poor is assisting impoverished families in establishing income-generating activities that align with their skills and the availability of local resources. The primary objective of this project is to enable economically disadvantaged families to achieve financial self-sufficiency.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said

“It is better for a person to take a rope, carry a bundle of wood on his back, and sell it to preserve his honour in the sight of Allah, rather than resorting to begging from others, regardless of whether they give him or not.”

Sahih Bukhari

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Dabbagh Welfare Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Dabbagh Welfare Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Dabbagh Welfare Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Dabbagh Welfare Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Dabbagh Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Gift a Goat

£75

By purchasing goats for the poor, we provide them with a pathway to livestock-based entrepreneurship and the means to uplift themselves from poverty. Goats offer numerous benefits, such as milk production and the sale of offspring, which create sustainable income streams. Goat farming presents economic potential as it requires low investment and offers high returns. It empowers individuals to become self-reliant entrepreneurs, fostering independence and breaking the cycle of poverty. Through this simple act of providing goats, we can transform the lives of impoverished families, helping them achieve financial stability and a brighter future.

Sponsor a Sewing Machine

£90

By providing sewing machines to the poor, we open doors to tailoring enterprises and offer a path out of poverty. Sewing machines hold immense significance in the garment industry, enabling the creation of clothes for sale and income generation. They empower individuals to develop vocational skills and embrace self-employment, fostering independence and economic stability. With a sewing machine, a single family can transform raw materials into marketable products, expanding their earning potential and breaking the cycle of poverty. Through the simple act of purchasing sewing machines, we can empower the poor to become skilled entrepreneurs, paving the way for a brighter future.

Sponsor a Hand Cart

£150

By purchasing hand carts, we provide a means for poor families to earn a halal income in a dignified manner. As part of your donation, the head of a household will receive a hand cart filled with fruits/vegetables. This enables them to sell these goods and meet essential needs such as food, clothing, school fees, rent, and other expenses for their household. This small but impactful donation has the potential to permanently lift families out of poverty. The versatility and mobility offered by hand carts allow individuals to engage in mobile marketplaces, reaching a wider customer base. With the accessibility and cost-effectiveness of this income-generating avenue, we empower families to achieve financial stability and a brighter future.

Income Generation Projects – A Source of Sadaqah Jariyah for You and your loved ones

Our income generation programme is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah for the donors, leading to innumerable rewards as a continuing charity.

Allah says:

“Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over?”

Surah Al-Baqarah

By empowering individuals through our income generation programme, donors contribute to a cycle of sustainable support that extends far beyond their initial contribution.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,

“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

Sahih Muslim

Often the beneficiaries of our income generation programme are so grateful and overwhelmed by the support that their eyes start to shed tears of joy. They continue to pray for the well-being and forgiveness of those who have helped them start a new life, which could result in them gaining financial freedom.

Why donate to the income generation programme for the poor?

At Dabbagh Welfare Trust, we believe in providing more than just a temporary solution to poverty. Our income generation programme focuses on empowering individuals and poverty-stricken families to become self-sufficient and break free from the cycle of poverty. We understand that merely providing bread is not enough; we strive to equip people with the means to bake their own bread. Through strategic interventions, we provide essential tools such as goats, sewing machines, and hand carts, enabling individuals to harness their entrepreneurial spirit and generate sustainable income for their families. By selling by-products like milk, goat offspring, clothes, fruits, and vegetables, our beneficiaries transform their lives and gain the confidence to create a brighter future.
